'Ghost Moons' Discovered in Orbit Around Earth - NBC News

Two Hungarian astronomers have obtained clear evidence of the existence of two large dust clouds, which they call "ghost moons," orbiting at Lagrande points (regions of space where the centrifugal force balances gravity) not far from our Moon. They were first detected almost 60 years ago by a Polish astronomer named Kazimierz Kordylewski, but the patches of light reflecting from the dust clouds were too indistinct to convince scientists of their existence. This sounds a lot like the story of the small comets discovered in the 1980s by space scientist Louis A. Frank. He produced evidence that "snowballs" the size of a small house break up as they approach Earth and deposit a large cloud of water vapor in Earth's upper atmosphere. He calculated that they must do so several times a minute! Of course, mainstream science has insisted that these objects do not exist. But we can't help but wonder if the ghost moons of Kordylewski may not be related in some way to the small comets themselves. (PH)
