Exploring Canadian Monsters: Saskatchewan - Mysterious Universe

For our Canadian readers, it's good to know you don't have to go far to encounter weirdness. (No we're not referring to the Parliament buildings in Ottawa.) Right smack in the middle of Canada, in the heart of prairie country, Saskatchewan is home to lake monsters, giant wolves, Bigfoot, and something with a penchant for sled dogs. Just because a monster is Canadian doesn't mean it's going to ask for permission before eating you. On the other side of the globe, we have Japan̢۪s Very Own Unknown Animal, the Hibagon, a bipedal ape-like creature that has sometimes been seen brandishing crude weapons. Investigators have speculated that the Hibagon may be a chimpanzee, which is actually more terrifying than the prospect of a species of Bigfoot. Everyone has seen Planet of the Apes, right? It seems as if no corner of the world is safe if you're inclined to hide from the beasties. (Happens to the best of us some days.) Back over in the west, there are reports of Marauding Monsters in South America. Known as the Mono Grande, these apelike beings with small heads, long arms, and highly violent natures have been described as attacking in groups and brutally killing anyone they encounter. Might want to strike that locale from your cryptid vacation list. (CM)
