Altered States of Consciousness and Overlapping Realities - UFO Conjectures

Courtesy of blogmeister Rich Reynolds, Spanish journalist-ufologist Jose Antonio Caravaca offers three more explications of his novel "Distortion Theory" behind certain Close Encounters reports, especially those with UFOs. In the title article, Jose suggests such experiences begin with what Jenny Randles has called the "Oz Factor," an altered state of consciousness that enables witnesses to "lock onto" and interact with Something Else that is real but outside their normal reality, and in fact shares that reality for a time. But how is this expanded reality apprehended by the human? In Jose Caravaca Offers More about his "Distortion Theory", we see the witness participating in the extraordinary encounter; his/her prior experiences and deeply-buried emotions shape the content of the perceived event. In Close Encounters With UFOs or "Quantum Bridges" With An Expanded Reality Jose dwells upon the difficulties preventing us "from appreciating the true nature of these experiences" and from a real "connection with the universe." With UFOs and the "Bubbles" of Reality Rich Reynolds explains how individuals' "mental makeup (and memory residue)" per the Distortion Theory will help form and interpret the anomalous experience--some see Marian apparitions, others UFOs, still others Men in Black. Yet Rich resists the urge to "lump all such things together as various phases of a paranormal reality"; he suspects each "paranormal" element has a discrete existence and must be studied separately. And in Perception and the Layers of Reality Rich expands upon the concept of alternate realities and argues that a totally new approach is needed to study UFOs. (WM)
