Senators Weigh Search For Extraterrestrial Life Against Other NASA Science Priorities - American Institute of Physics

Awash in a sea of bad news for both sides of the aisle, the American Institute of Physics has some uplifting reports from Washington concerning SETI. Oh the delicious irony of an administration with a zero-tolerance policy against aliens being amenable to seeking out the other kinds of aliens. We can only say, "Beware of greys bearing gifts." Not every E.T. is 'round the (cosmological) corner, as Paul Glister's fascinated by An Extragalactic SETI Opportunity posed by GW170817. Kyoto University's brightest, Yuki Nishino and Naoki Seto, reckon this distant galaxy is a prime target for detecting Kardashev III civilization through gravitational waves. As always, the pursuit becomes more interesting through the link. (CS)
