Suspicious Minds - New York Times

Hey, remember when Leslie Kean, Ralph Blumenthal, and Helene Cooper broke the 2004 Nimitz Tic-Tac story in the New York Times? Not the Daily Mail, not Fox News, not The Sun, nor The Express. The New York ever-lovin' Times! Questions remain about why the Gray Lady deigned to seriously acknowledge saucers. A sign of encroaching fascism in the United States, where real news is supplanted by horseshit? A glimmer of hope that journalists are open to treating anomalistics and forteana with guarded curiosity? A symptom of a slow news day? A scan of Steven Kurutz's smear of AlienCon eliminates the latter question by poking fun at a convention, the people attending, while purveying Kurutz's personal opinions much like the cringiest Vice content. For what it's worth, how the other side of the aisle sees "us" really hasn't changed. Nor does it seem willing to be changed. (CS)
