Recurring Terrifying Nightmares and Strange Happenings

As a child I had a reccuring nightmare that would happen regularly, at least twice a month or sometimes as often as every other night. Ive always had terrifying and vivid dreams. I first remember it happening around the time I was six and I kept having the dream regularly til about 14. The dream was always the same. It would begin with me in my front yard. Across the street would be a strange, tall black cloaked figure. I remember describing it as the grim reaper as a kid. It would immediately be terrified and run to my front door. The front door to our house has a second door, much like a screen door but full glass. My family would be inside and I would bang on the door and would see them talking or laughing but never being able to see or here me, all the while the figure would move slowly closer to me. (Another thing to note is that I used to never be able to talk in my dreams, it was just impossible. ) I feel the thing growing closer so I leave the door and go run in hide in my parents car. I hide until the door gets yanked open and the thing grabs me. But the dream doesn't end there. It then would go to a scene with me and my family or friends and I would be there. But it's the back of me I can only see. And when I can finally see the front of my face, it's not mine but the black figure. That's where the dream would always cut off and I'd wake up. I don't remember how or why the dream stopped but it did around the time I was 14. Around that same time I awake from a dream and there was a white figure by my bed. Its early korning but daylight is in to where you can see without the light being on. Not more than 2 feet from me and facing me. My sister was next to me and I am filled with fear just staring at this thing. It's completely white and I can't look away or blink. I stay staring and try waking my sister to no avail. I then close my eyes and quickly open them and the apparition moves back a couple feet. I then do the same action a few times til it's gone all the way out of site down the hall. I run to turn on the lights and wake my sister, she doesn't believe me and all of my family was strangely asleep during the time when normally are up around 5 a.m. and I would sleep in til much later. Around the time it was around 8 a.m.. I continue to see weird stuff happening at my house or hear stuff that my family never does. Much later I have my recurring dream again at 18. It was after my mom left and I was in terrible mental health. I was terrified and still couldn't speak in my dreams. I couldn't sleep and would stay up super late and wouldn't get to sleep more than a few hours a day, each time I slept I would have horrifying nightmares. I got so bad that I moved in with a friend and started to get better and the nightmares settle down. Out of nowhere, I have another terrifying dream. It was as vivid as my grim reaper dreams as a kid. I was in a light house and something is following me in the dark. I run outside and a grotesque women is pulling herself out of a drain on the rainy road. She has wet, black hair that sticks to her. She is fully white and it looks like her skin is dropping down like she's made of goo. She drags herself out and I run until the dream ends. That same night my friend and her family also have vivid nightmares, and the nightmares continue for the whole family for a full week. On the morning of that last nightmare I was taking a shower while my friend slept. We decided to share a bed that week since we were both freaked out. When I came back from the shower she stopped me and asked me why I had tried to pull the covers from her. I told her I was in the shower the whole time, but she persists that it was on my side of the bed and that she heard and felt a body sit on my side of the bed and then the blanket pull from that end. Her brother also stated that he saw a man watching him from his doorway that night. His mother said it sounded a lot like her father from his description of work boots. The nightmares stop for everyone but I still have them every so often for a while, but they sometimes hear strange things in the night. After I move out my friend says they never experience anything close to that stuff again. Then I love in with my now husband about two years ago and am up working on some homework. My husband is asleep and my cat is on my lap and the top of my trashcan falls of the can. It's a big red trashcan and he lid sits on the can in a way that you have to lift it off the can for you to separate it from the can. I immediately go to bed and wake my husband and tell him, to which he brushes it off. A few weeks after, I have another nightmare, but this time I scream in it and when I scream I wake up, also waking up my husband. After that, the nightmares stop. I don't remember the nightmare, but afterward I can now speak in my dreams freely where as before I couldn't even in happy dreams. It's been well over a year since anything close to the stuff I described has happened, but I discovered this subbreddit today, and from reading some entries, my experiences now seem more paranormal than I wanted to believe before. I was wondering if anyone had any insight or something that would help explain some of this stuff. My therapist has only heard my nightmares and finds it off that I've had the nightmares over such a long period of time during much different times of my life and mental health.
