Not really haunted in a traditional sense: Local library sees paranormal activity from time to time.

Ok, so this library i frequent has some things that periodically go on, and having been experienced in the world or paranormal, meaning I know usually why a haunting occurs, or what starts one. This library doesn't have the typical history of places that are usually considered haunted.

Having only been a movie theater from April 28, 1965 to April 5, 1987 and was left unused untill it reopened as a library in January 1999. There is no records of any tragedy, or death as far as ive been able to learn. It did however have a super long stint as an abandoned building. It may have been broken into, used as a homeless camp, or teens spray painting the walls inside or possibly some satanic rituals. There was one source of material claiming the property across from the building over a creek WAS used as a satanic cult meeting place and even a murder.

This library has every so often light activity that few people witness including the staff who all have gotten used to it or even left due to it.

My personal experiences are as follows:

There are large tables in the back for those who use laptops. One can sit with their back to the rear wall facing the Stacks and one can also see both sides of stacks depending on what table they choose. I was working on something with my laptop and had to think about solving a coding problem so i was looking up from my screen to think. I had seen the regular guy who always put the books back on the shelves when they get processed after being returned. He was leafing through a book i guess he was interested in before placing it back on the shelf when i saw a book right next to him LAUNCH right off the shelf and onto the floor. I could see the other side of the shelf too so i know that it wasnt someone else doing it, or that someone placing a book back casue the other side to launch a book like that. Well the guy bent down, not even taking his eyes off the page he was reading, picked up the book and placed it back in the spot it launched from. Later telling one of the staff what i saw i was told that stuff like that was common and everyone was pretty much used to it by now.

Another time i was sitting back there, same spot someone i knew sitting at the table next to mine, both our back to the rear wall (which held the mystery section the old ladies loved to frequent) when I heard a whisper saying "hey!", Thinking it was the old lady trying to ask me something i looked up at her, she looked down at me too like "what?" she hadnt said anything and thought I was the one who had spoke. Looking around seeing that no one that close to either of us, nor trying to get any of our attention we both went back to what we were doing. I did ask the guy at the next table if he had heard anyone say hey, he had not (but he had earbuds in and doesnt hear all that well anyways).

Periodically I would hear noises in the deep stacks usually when not a lot of people are around, mainly right after opening or right before closing.

One time i heard what could have been a bus load of kids yelling and screaming in the back beyond the back wall, there are 2 exit doors for when it was a theater. I thought "oh, great more screaming kids running around the library." So i went outside to stretch and see what all those kids were doing in the back parking lot when i saw no bus, no kids (and it sounded like at least 50 of them, not just one or two). The way the parking lot is fenced in and wraps around the building there's no way to leave without me seeing a bus exit the lot from the entrance to the building.

BAck when people were allowed to sit in front of the library during closed hours, people often made claims about seeing a shadow figure near the entrance walking out of the library and around the corner away from the sitting area like someone was leaving and walking towards the street.

Recently this person from a long time ago told me he saw another book launch off the shelf.

I had heard another whisper near my ear when i was in the small studdy room when no one was in there with me.

This library seems to break some of the common rules known about haunting. Who died? when did they die? What happened in this building when it was left unused for those years between the movie theater and library? Does something across from the creek influence properties surrounding? This is just a super curiosity, why this building has such activity but not very often. And not so noticeable as to scare off people (like tossing books off shelves in a dramatic way like in movies) It seems friendly.

One last thing that may or may not be connected:

The automatic sliding doors would periodically close and open by itself over and over again, like someone standing in its detection zone and stepping away, then stepping back in its zone to open it again. This happened 4 times while i was there and always when the library was getting ready to close, like about 30 minutes prior. This could just be a malfunction but it chose to do so only near close, and i also noticed the sunlight was low enough to shine all over the entrance area.
