Looked smiliar to her

To start off this wasn't myself but my fiance's experience. We where talking about things that where hard to explain and strange about our past before we where together. SHe told me that she woke up in her room thought her then BF was coming in from where ever he had been. instead it was something that looked like her but the face was that of something rotted and decaying. Myself and one of our mutual friends have few ideas what it could of been but nothing definite. any ideas what this might of been
