Flying

This story I have never been able to make sense of whatsoever. It will come off as completely crazy yet I remember it clearly and can still feel how it felt.

When I was about 7 years old and at primary school we (the class) were having our morning tea/break. I always climbed onto the monkey bars, on this particular day I was thinking about flying. So when on top of the monkey bars I declared to the two boys I was playing with, that I am going to fly then impulsively jumped off the monkey bars.

This is where it gets wack, I remember jumping but I didn't land on the ground. I was hovering several feet above the ground, it felt like an energy was holding me or something. Being a child I didn't comphrend how strange the situation was and embraced it, I went around the playground for a few minutes above ground. Then the boys said they were going to tell on me, so I somehow put myself gently back on the ground near a tree.

The teacher who was meant to be watching us was in the classroom up from the play area, when she came down after the boys reported me she asked what I was doing. I didn't say anything then the boys told her how I was flying, the teacher just laughed and shortly after we had to go back in for our lessons.

In class we were asked to talk about what we did during break, I immediately talked about "flying" and the teacher said I have a good imagination. I told my mother who didn't really care, and life went on. I tried "flying" again but it never happened. The adults shrugged it off as a game or imagination so as a child I just shrugged it off.

With the feeling I felt during the ordeal I cannot even described the sensation I felt while I was hovering, I've never experienced it before or after. It's not a bad feeling yet I can't even type the words to clearly demonstrate how it felt. While I was hovering I felt free and calm as if nothing mattered.

I basically forgot it for years since it was almost 20 years ago. However I recently meet one of the boys again, we were talking for awhile when he mentioned as a kid he had a weird dream about me floating off the ground at school, but it felt so real he sometimes wonders if it was a dream or actually happened (then laughed it off).

I've remembered this again and I can't make sense of it.
