TL;DR at end.
So I'll preface this post with the fact that I have never believed in ghosts, spirits, angels, demons, visiting aliens, etc. I have a couple soon-to-be-in-laws with whom I frequently butt heads on these subjects.
Two nights ago, I was on Cape visiting those friendly wooers, and we were on a beach with several other friends. As I looked up at the sky, pondering on abiogenesis and extra-terrestrial life, I remarked to my someday-brother, Paul, "What I wouldn't give to see something I cant explain. Something paradigm shifting." Paul believes his wooery because of personal encounters with angels/demons/aliens that took place over a year that admittedly did leave him entirely changed, in personality and lifestyle (but that's an entirely different and way more interesting story.) He looks at me with grave seriousness and said earnestly, "be careful what you wish for dude." I just laughed because ever since his supposed encounter he always says cryptic stuff like that. I immediately forgot the exchange and the thoughts leading up to it and I pulled off my shirt and dove into the warm moonlit water to go find my fiance and do some frolicking.
A few hours later my fiance and I are alone in her grandfather's house, where we are staying for the visit, and its brutally hot inside. I hopped out of bed and ran downstairs to go out to the car and grab her nalgene full of water that was left out in the cool night. As I walked towards the staircase to walk back up, I felt a sudden and magnetic compulsion to look with intent into the next room. It was a dark room illuminated only by moonlight through a large skylight. In the dimness of the room, but clearly and unequivocally, about 15 feet away, visible, was... something. It looked a little shorter than 5' 4", maybe 5' even. Its form looked definite, but what the form was made of just looked like a darkness or a void. It stood in the middle of the room looking at me and my brain sort of broke. I immediately started trying to rationalize what I was looking at but at the same time I found myself uncontrollably walking upstairs and feeling the feeling that makes your back/shoulders involuntarily contract. I felt like I was being chased and had to fight the urge to bound, 3 steps at a time, up the stairs. I got to our room and as soon as I crossed the threshold, I forgot everything that had happened in the preceding 75 seconds and I calmly climbed into bed and handed my fiance her nalgene. A few minutes later we are watching The Office to go to sleep and I have to use the bathroom. Again, I get out of bed and walk down the hall in the half darkness to the toilet. I finish and start walking back to our room. The room was 15 feet away, the stairs 20, and just past the stairs, an open door into the upper level of the room I had originally seen the thing. Immediately I see, standing in the door to that room, the thing. Suddenly the memory of seeing it downstairs comes flooding back. It's not indicating anything through vocalization or gesticulation but I feel an unexplainable feeling of being beckoned to it. All I could do was run at the thing. The closer I got, the more it was definitely there. Finally I got to the door of our room, at this point only about 5 or 6 feet from whatever it was, dove into our room and jumped in bed, more terrified than I've ever felt, and trying to babble to my fiance about what I had seen without sounding crazy. She held me and suddenly I fell asleep. The next day when we awoke she had to remind me of what I'd told her I'd seen and again the memories came flooding back. Now I can't stop thinking about it. It's hard for me to not feel like what I saw was totally real. Does anyone have any idea of what this sounds like? Paranormal and debunking answers/questions appreciated.
TL;DR: asked the universe to prove me wrong. That night saw some creepy void humanoid creature twice that wanted me to go with it or something and I kept forgetting.
