Loch Ness DNA Tests Could Justify Harmful Hydro Plant Construction - Mysterious Universe

Here's an issue we hadn't thought about when we cheered on (or mocked) the excrement tests being conducted at Loch Ness. If the tests don't come up with proof of an endangered species or a cryptid, the Loch could become the future site of a hydro plant. And while we support the creation of jobs and a more stable hydro-electric grid in Scotland, it's hard to feel great about the resultant loss of natural environment and negative impact on indigenous species. Maybe we need Another Controversial Nessie Photo to slow down the wheels of "progress." Historically, people want to believe in Nessie a whole lot more than they want to find out the creature doesn't exist, and this report offers some great creative fodder for getting our Monster on and making the world remember that there's much about the very dark waters of Loch Ness that we don't yet understand.
