Bat-Winged Humanoid Encountered Near Indianapolis International Airport

I recently received the following report from an eyewitness 'CJ':

A friend of mine just sent me an article on sightings about the humanoid type flying creature in Indiana. It had written in it about a recent sighting of this thing. My girlfriend and I both witnessed this same creature about 6 years ago (summer 2012) while traveling I-465 north headed to the Indianapolis International Airport around 3am.

The creature (Mothman) as we have been calling it, flew right in front of our windshield! It soared in between 2 buildings and came right in front of the van (taxi van, I was on a cab fare). It turned its head and looked right at us with little red eyes. It then flapped its wings one time and flew to the left really fast. The wings were so beautiful. I'll never forget how amazing they were. It was a very bat-like being. You could almost see through his wings. You could see the veins bulging from all angles of the wings and light that illuminated through them in the background. And I'll NEVER forget the eyes. They were piercing and felt as if they looked right into my soul. It was definitely a very deep feeling.

And you know funny thing was? Even though this massive thing flew so close in front of the van, I felt I was going to hit him, I never once put my breaks on. And I think back about that and why I didn't a lot. I mean I'm a taxi driver with a chauffeur license trained to be safe and cautious. Yet I never once slammed on my brakes or attempted to stop.

Just thought I should contact you. I hope to hear back from you. I would like to know more about this thing. We wanted to tell someone bigger than just our circle of friends and family but didnt know who. CJ

NOTE: I contacted CJ and her companion for additional information. She and her companion (in the front) were with two fares (soldier and his girlfriend in the back). CJ states that the winged being had a thin 7 ft. body, brownish in color. The bat-like wingspan was at least 12 ft. in length. The red eyes had a distinct illumination and were very bright.

It Came Out of the Closet

Phillip in Texas called to tell of a strange thing that happened to him and his family:

“I got one that fits perfectly with what you said (Clyde and his guest Rosemary Ellen Guiley were discussing strange, creepy things children say) but this happened about thirty years ago. My twins were one year old, we put them to bed and they woke up in the middle of the night screaming. They were saying a headless man, or a man with no head, and a horsey-head came out of their closet. And their closet door happened to be open. We calmed them down, put them to bed, closed the closet door. Didn't think anything of it.

A few nights later, the same thing happened again. They were in hysterics, screaming and crying, saying the same thing, a headless man and a horsey man came out of the closet. We figured maybe they were opening the closet. They were one years old so they could get out of the crib. So we put one of the cribs up against the closet and we put them to bed. That night we heard a big crash and the kids were screaming in hysterics. We walked in the hallway. Their door was hanging on an I-hook and one of the hinges at an angle. Inside the room, the one crib we had put up against the closet door was all the way across the room. The closet door was open and the kids were incoherent, they were screaming and crying so hard. They were saying, a man with no head and a horsey head.

After that third incident where the door was actually pulled off its hinges and I know one year old twins cannot do that, that was the last night they stayed in that room.”

Mystery of Locked Room in Darwin's Former Reserve Bank Building Set To Be Solved - ABC-AU

There's a room at the old Reserve Bank in Darwin, Australia, that hasn't been opened since the 1990s. Dozens of keys have been tried in its locks, but since nothing dangerous or unpleasant has been detected emanating from within no one has been curious enough to force entry--until this week. Locksmiths have been booked and apparently the world will soon know if the strange locked room is home to spiders and cobwebs, lost treasure or a big ol' cursed mummy. And oh, by the way, the building itself is haunted by a ghost called Toastie, who roams the halls releasing the smell of toast! Equally curious is the story of the Missing Boy Rescued in Eastern NC Says He “Hung Out With a Bear� While Lost For Two Days. Of course everyone is celebrating the discovery and safe return of the three-year-old boy, but what's got the community talking is the child's claim that a bear took care of him while he was lost. Miraculous interspecies communication? Hallucination? Or Sasquatch? We just hope people aren't so caught up in the mystery that they neglect to keep a closer eye on their children. (CM)

Mysterious Boeing Patent Appears to Show 'Mothership' at Area 51 - Mysterious Universe

Boeing aircraft just released a set of concept drawings seeming to suggest possible explanations for those 1980s reports of huge triangular "motherships," and even to lend support to the current reality of the fabled TR-3B. That's the opinion of Brett Tingley, whose good summary is based upon the Tyler Rogoway and Joseph Trevithick article Is This Concept Art Of A Mysterious Space Launch Mothership A Missing Link In Area 51's Past? The Rogoway-Trevithick post provides the actual art and a lot of other fascinating information. The scenes seem set in the Groom Lake area (Area 51). Tyler Rogoway offers another article dealing with a curious, but wholly tragic event as a Bizarre Chase Through High Security Nevada Nuclear Test Site Ends In Deadly Shooting. At a highly-guarded area just west of Area 51 deadly force was used upon a car-driving trespasser who held "some type of metallic cylindrical object in his hand and confronted his pursuers." Rogoway promises updates when available. In Man Killed at Nevada Nuclear Site Failed to Drop Object on the Stars and Stripes website, the Associated Press reports that "Nevada is currently involved in a legal battle with the U.S. Energy Department to block the shipment of a metric ton of weapons-grade plutonium to the site from South Carolina." Might there be some connection? Finally, Tim Binnall dutifully reports but throws water upon the video in Security Camera Films 'UFO Landing'. (WM)

Strange Creature Remains Found in Colombian Village - Coast to Coast AM

Lately it seems that every time a dead four-legged animal is found somewhere in a warm climate, someone is there shouting "Chupacabra!" (It would harder to shout "Decomposing Unidentified Carnivore!") It's not surprising then that villagers in a Columbian village are claiming the corpse of a strange beast recently discovered is that of the local ill-reputed Goat Sucker. Time will tell if their livestock are safe now, or if Goat Sucker had friends. Up in the US, there have been Werewolves of London and a Texas Chupacabra, or at least one or two sightings of shape-shifting creatures and some surprisingly good music on the radio. And while the whole experience could be brushed off as a series of coincidences (coupled with heat exhaustion), as forteans we know that's a pretty lame explanation for anything. (CM)

Archaeology: Were Ancient Writings, Giants Pulled from Ohio Burial Mounds? Ummm, No - The Columbus Dispatch

Bradley Lepper tells how the Muskingum County, Ohio, Brush Creek Mound tablet came to be famous. Excavator John Everhart claimed it possessed inscriptions that were "chiefly Greek, commingled with Phoenician and Etruscan," and therefore decidedly ancient. A fast internet search indicated that some have seriously tried to decipher the characters. But they were actually carved by a workman who later took his hoaxer-employer to court for nonpayment. Jason Colavito attacks fraud in West Virginia Archaeologists Blast "Appalachian Magazine" for Reviving Claims about Irish Monks in Ancient America. He lauds the Council for West Virginian Archaeology for taking a stand against an article in the December 21, 2018 Appalachian Magazine touting Native American petroglyphs as having been composed by pre-Columbian Irish monks. The Council said "attributing Native American sites to Europeans has problematic imperialist, or even racist, undertones." A reader points out that the article itself is a rehash of previous Appalachian Magazine articles from just two months prior--September 15, 2018, and October 5, 2014. Jason takes aim at media misrepresentation of history in Australia's History Channel Marks Australia Day with "Ancient Aliens" Claims about Space Aliens and Egyptians Colonizing Down Under. What Australian historians are saying in that article could be read with reference to The Anomalist's January 30th reviews of the U.S. History Channel's Project Blue Book. (WM)

1970s and 1980s: Serial Killers to Slashers

(Zodiac Killer - still unsolved mystery)

The 1970s gave us lots of serial killers to spark the slasher genre at the end of the decade into the 80s. 

Zodiac Killer: In the late 60s and early 70s, a serial killer tormented Northern Californians. He sent taunting letters to the press claiming to have killed 37. The case has remained open.




John Wayne Gacy: This man raped and killed 33 boys in the 70s. He buried 26 of them in his basement crawlspace. He worked as a fundraising clown. He was caught and ultimately executed.




Ted Bundy: Assaulted and killed 30 women in the 1970s. This nice looking "boy-next-door" approached women in public and pretended to be an authority figure to lure them away to their deaths. He was caught and executed. 



Son of Sam: David Berkowitz terrorized New York in the mid 70s. In 8 shootings he killed 6 people. Near one of the shootings a police officer found this note with many misspellings: I am deeply hurt by your calling me a wemon hater. I am not. But I am a monster. I am the "Son of Sam." I am a little "brat". When father Sam gets drunk he gets mean. He beats his family. Sometimes he ties me up to the back of the house. Other times he locks me in the garage. Sam loves to drink blood. "Go out and kill" commands father Sam. Behind our house some rest. Mostly young — raped and slaughtered — their blood drained — just bones now. Papa Sam keeps me locked in the attic, too. I can't get out but I look out the attic window and watch the world go by. I feel like an outsider. I am on a different wave length then everybody else — programmed too kill. However, to stop me you must kill me. Attention all police: Shoot me first — shoot to kill or else. Keep out of my way or you will die! Papa Sam is old now. He needs some blood to preserve his youth. He has had too many heart attacks. Too many heart attacks. "Ugh, me hoot it urts sonny boy." I miss my pretty princess most of all. She's resting in our ladies house but I'll see her soon. I am the "Monster" — "Beelzebub" — the "Chubby Behemouth." I love to hunt. Prowling the streets looking for fair game — tasty meat. The wemon of Queens are z prettyist of all. I must be the water they drink. I live for the hunt — my life. Blood for papa. Mr. Borrelli, sir, I dont want to kill anymore no sir, no more but I must, "honour thy father." I want to make love to the world. I love people. I don't belong on Earth. Return me to yahoos. To the people of Queens, I love you. And I wa want to wish all of you a happy Easter. May God bless you in this life and in the next and for now I say goodbye and goodnight. Police — Let me haunt you with these words; I'll be back! I'll be back! To be interrpretedas — bang, bang, bang, bank, bang — ugh!! Yours in murder Mr. Monster. He claims in his prison time that he is born again and so far has been denied every parole hearing.

Hillside Strangler: In the 70s, women were raped, tortured and killed by what was termed "Hillside Strangler." The cousins (Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, Jr) who did these crimes were caught. Bianchi is still serving a life sentence and Buono died of a heart attack in jail.

Dean Corll: "The Candy Man" worked for his mother's candy company. In the early 70s, he tortured and killed 28 boys in Houston. At the time, he was the worst serial killer known. He was convicted for life.



Gary Gilmore: This man was in trouble with the law a lot and in jail, but in 1976 he robbed and murdered a gas station attendant, then he robbed and murdered a motel employee the next night. In January of 77, he was executed and he chose a firing squad. They sat him in a chair with sandbags behind him to absorb the bullets and 5 shooters were behind a curtain with their barrels sticking out of holes. His last words, "Let's do it!"

1970s/80s slashers

Were the slasher movies of the late 70s and 80s decade just cautionary tales for youth about the dangers of unsupervised sex and drug use or was it a natural movement coming out of a decade of death? Sure, there was "Psycho," and a few other disturbing killer movies before the golden era of slasher genre, but the peak of it began around the last 1970s and moved right through the 1980s, a stark contrast to the happy John Hughes films and other perky 1980s brat pack genre. It was that very contrast that gave it more power to be dark and scary, sort of like the 1950s beach movies compared to their science fiction.

Slasher movies ran a certain theme that worked - the good and smart kids survive, those having sex and drugs died. The teens are in a situation of unsupervised mischief and they pay the price. The killer might be invincible (Halloween) or be extremely good at hiding his identity (Prom Night). The killer might be a misunderstood or ridiculed youth (Terror Train) or a vengeful person (Friday the 13th). 

Perhaps the most definitively loved slasher film of all time, loved by those who don't even like the genre, is "Halloween," a cheaply budgeted film by an up and coming horror master, John Carpenter.

- Movies based on real-life serial killers - 

“Monster” Aileen Carol Wuornos killed 7 men in Florida, executed in 2002. (A female serial killer is an amazing thing when you think of it. It seems to go against nature since women's instinct is to create and support life. Perhaps Ms Wuornos couldn't produce estrogen?).

“Citizen X” Russian mass murderer Andrei Romanovich Chikatilo who killed 52 women and children in the Soviet Union executed 1994. (This butt-lick managed to get past the crippled criminal system in the Soviet Union for years and keep murdering. The justice system there basically killed the last victims. Lesson: Don't expect policing in a communist-run country).

“Zodiac” Zodiac Killer, a Northern California killer in the 60s, never found, left taunting letters, claimed he murdered 37. (Never found. Sometimes, I think with California's justice system, they should just put up a sign saying "kill here--we never convict!" Even if they found him, he'd probably get 3 warm meals a day in a cell the rest of his miserable life and do interviews for cheesy news shows like the Octumom and other famous-for-nothings)

“Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Psycho” “Silence of the Lambs,” “The Strangers” “Ed Gein” Ed Gein in the 1940s and 1950s exumed bodies to use and killed women, died in prison mental hospital. (This dickless dude was apparently inspiring for a lot of movies because he didn't just dig up dead bodies and kill folks, he used them for parts to make things.)

“Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez, convicted of 13 murders in the 1980s in California, on death row. (A real poster child for birth control)

“Gacy," “To Catch a Killer” John Wayne Gacy, raped and murdered 33 boys and men in the 1970s, in 1994 he was executed. His brain was removed and examined and nothing unusual found (something tells me the rotten parts won’t be found in the architecture of the brain, but perhaps in the seat of the soul)

“Dahmer” Jeffrey Dahmer, killed 17 men and boys. (In 1994 he was thankfully beaten to death in prison)

“The Deliberate Stranger” Ted Bundy, over 30 murders in the 70s, executed in 1989. (Supposedly one of those cute friendly guys you'd never suspect. I think I sat next to a dozen guys like this in junior high. Makes me wonder what they're doing now...)

“Helter Skelter” Charles Manson gang, orchestrated his commune members to kill several people in California, still in prison.(And on the news whenever they can interview the ball-sac)

“The Boston Strangler” Albert Desalvo, the Boston Strangler of 13 women in the 1960s, 1973 was found murdered in prison. (Once again, a prisoner did our work for us))

“Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” (Really disturbing movie) Henry Lee Lucas, could have killed 350-600 people. George Bush, Governor of Texas comminuted his death sentence (WTF????) He died of natural causes in prison (I sure hope that natural cause was a pillow to his face)

“Summer of Sam” Son of Sam, David Berkowitz, terrorized New York in the 70s with a gun to unsuspecting people, killing 6, wounding more. (Really, pathetic loser. Couldn't really face his victims, just lifted a gun and aimed)

“The Hillside Strangler” Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono. Bianchi was also suspected in the alphabet murders—yet another film based on that. These cousins in the 1970s pretended to be cops to lure women and teens to torture and kill them, both carrying on their life sentences. (Yet another bad thing that resulted in a good thing in that a lot of women were more critical about who was a supposed cop)

“Speck” Richard Speck, raped and killed 8 nurses in the 1960s, died of a heart attack while in prison before turning 50. (Thankfully we didn't have to give him free food and health care for another 30 years!)

“Green River Killer” Gary Ridgway, over 50 women killed, incarcerated. (I'm not sure about this justice system, I think 50 female relatives of those women in a room alone with him-might just do the trick more expeditiously).

A Reader Asks: Is Bigfoot An Alien Being?

A reader forwarded the following email to me in 2010. I thought I'd post again after recently receiving a Bigfoot sighting report in the same general area and for your comments:

In September 1978, I lived with my father on a farm in the vicinity of Shawano, Wisconsin which is very near the Menominee Indian Reservation. There had been some buzz within the community of an unknown large hairy creature spotted by two deer hunters not far from our farm. I had heard stories of the Manabai'wok or 'The Giants' from stories told by the Menominee, but I just considered these tales to be legends.

Then one evening, my father and I were coming home from the store and noticed what appeared to be two hairy creatures collecting squash from the garden. Each creature was at least 6 foot tall. It was dusk but there was enough light to clearly see what they were doing. My father immediately cut the headlights and stopped the car as we just sat there and watched them pick and eat the squash. They didn't seem to even notice us, even though we were about 100 feet from them.

After about 5 minutes, one of the creatures looked in our direction and you could see it's eyes glow red from the moonlight. We started to get scared and decided to make a dash for the house and call the police. Then suddenly, a huge disc-shaped objects appeared above us and slowly moved towards the east field which was about 200 hundred yards from us and landed. I estimate the craft was about 40 feet in diameter. A large sliding door opened immediately and a foggy green light glowed from within the craft. After a few seconds, the door closed and craft slowly rose and shot off towards the north. Then we noticed that the creatures were gone.

A few days later, our neighbors from down the road came over for dinner. After we finished eating, my father and Mr. C walked outside. After an hour or so, the neighbors left and I started to clean up the kitchen. Later that evening, I was watching TV in the living room. My father walked in, turned off the TV and sat down beside me. He told me that Mr. C and his sister witnessed one of the craft on the same night that we had our encounter. As well, they witnessed several of the large hairy creatures meandering in the nearby woods. Mr. C said that he knew something had been in the woods for several weeks but never got a good look until the craft arrived. After that night, we never had another encounter or did we hear of more sightings by any people in the area.

Do you think that these creatures were Bigfoot, aliens or one in the same? I has always seemed strange to me that a Bigfoot body has never been found. Is it a possibility that Bigfoot is an extraterrestrial being? Thanks, Donald

NOTE: This is a question I have mulled over since I first started looking into the Bigfoot question. I have heard and read many Bigfoot / UFO connection reports over the years. Bigfoot Encounter in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

I received a telephone call on January 20th from the witness NH near Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin:

NH states that he had just returned home from work, about 11PM CT (local time) on Tuesday, January 29th. At the time there was approximately 10-12" of snow on the ground and the temperature was in the -30s F. The first thing he did when he arrived home was to take his Golden Retriever out.

As NH and his dog walked along the street, the dog soon reacted violently to a large upright being crossing the street ahead of them...maybe 75 yards away. The 8+ ft. being was massive and was walking quickly, passing under a streetlamp when it reached their side of the sidewalk.

NH noticed that it was hair-covered, but could not make out any details other than a cone-shaped head and that it had very wide shoulders. The dog continued to react with incessant barking, prompting a neighbor to turn on their porch light.

NH was confused by what he witnessed and asked me if a Black Bear could have been that large and able to walk like a human. It does seem that he encountered a Bigfoot in his neighborhood. Lon

A Horse-Man

Derek in Massachusetts called in to tell of a weird creature his friend saw:

“I got a quick sighting. My boss, we're at work right now, I called for him a couple times during like a UFO episode. I'm pretty sure he lives in a hotspot. It's right next to a reservation land, or a conservation land that used to be a military shooting range in the civil war and he's the last house in the cul de sac so his yard is right next to the woods. And I believe it's a portal. And one day this past summer, he had lit a fire around duskish, when the sun went down and he turned his head and he saw this little, like, 3 or 4 foot, naked, hairy, like, feral child or like a little gremlin type thing and I know you were talking earlier tonight about a horse-man but he had like shaggy hair. Then his hair went back down his neck like that, like a horse-man, almost, and he was kind of hunched over. And he kind of galloped off and when they checked the footprints, there was no footprints.”
